Friday the 19th of September at 8pm will see the Palace Theatre, Ashe Quay, Fermoy play host to a spectacular night of culture when it welcomes Voce di Donna with the opening of their new production, 'You’d Be Surprised'. This event, which is completely free to attend, is part of Cork Culture Night and has been made possible through the support of Cork County Council.

A new departure from their operatic origins, this show features gems from some of musical theatre’s greatest, including Gershwin, Sondheim, Berlin, Lloyd Webber and many of our modern songwriters. The timeless lyrics of these songs echo something of our own story, our own experience, our frustrations and longings – songs to make us laugh or cry, or simply remind us of the sheer joy of living.

Fiona O’Reilly (soprano), Christina O’Flynn (mezzo soprano) and Bethan Lee (piano), make up a unique trio in this show designed and directed by Mary Curtin and supported by the Cork County Council Arts Office. The group originally came together because of their shared passion for opera and the desire to bring it to a wider audience than it currently enjoys. Their first production ‘Three Ladies And a Suitcase’ which was directed by Belinda Wild in 2012, and its second ‘Disarming Divas And Spicy Roles’ (directed by Mary Curtin) in 2013, have toured with remarkable appreciation and success.

In their new show, you can meet the Divas and the Darlings, the Bad and the Sad, the Funny girls and the Sunny girls of the magical musical stage and enjoy hearing songs you know, and some that you’ve never heard before - well - ‘You’d Be Surprised!

Be sure to come along for what will be the cultural event of the year! For more details of this free event, please visit www.fermoyyouthcentre.ie or call 025-32042.
