Free advice for homeowners at Ploughing Championships from Glanworth architect Neil Kane

To help the architect give the best advice on the day people should bring with them some photos, a brief description of what they want to do and some measurements to give an idea of how much space there is to work with.

Glanworth architect Neil Kane will be among the RIAI architects dispensing free architectural advice at the National Ploughing Championships in Co Laois next week.

It's the second time the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland has hosted a free advice centre at the event.

Members of the public can meet a registered architect for a 20-30 minute consultation, completely free. Neil, of Kane Architects, will be attending on Thursday, September 26 to discuss domestic works with people from Cork, Waterford, Tipperary and Limerick.

Among the topics people can ask the attending architects about is how to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility bills, building or extending their home, planning applications and planning issues, registration of septic tanks and traditional farm building grants.

The RIAI advice centre will be opened from 9am to 6pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next. To book time with an architect, visitors can call to see them at Units 8 and 9 Stand No. 507, Row A1, Block 1, within the 'Avondale Arcade' house and home area.

To help the architect give the best advice on the day people should bring with them some photos, a brief description of what they want to do and some measurements to give an idea of how much space there is to work with.
