Forest volunteer Séan McCarthy honoured

Fermoy man, Séan McCarthy has been honoured for his efforts in keeping Glenabo Woods tidy.

A Fermoy man who helps keep a local amenity tidy has been honoured. Seán McCarthy devotes countless hours to litter picking in Glenabo Wood and last week, the town's litter warden, John Barry, acknowledged this contribution.

"Seán has been doing this work in a voluntary capacity for a long time and it's much appreciated" John Barry said at the presentation in The Torten Restaurant, Fermoy. Also present were, Pat Bowes and community activist, Joe Tobin.

Joe said he was delighted to be associated in honouring Seán.

"This award is fully deserved, Seán is an unsung hero and I was delighted to be associated with the award" Joe said. As well as a framed citation, Seán received an attractive trophy for his efforts.
