Ford has taken its motorsport-inspired lineup to the next level, unveiling two electrified performance machines – the Ranger MS-RT Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and E-Tourneo Custom MS-RT – at the 2025 IAA Mobility Show in Munich. Developed with Ford’s long-time rally partner MS-RT (M-Sport Road Technology), the pair combine raw performance, aggressive styling, and plug-in efficiency for drivers who want utility with attitude.
The new duo builds on the success of last year’s Ranger MS-RT and Transit Custom MS-RT, but this time adds electrification to the mix. According to Brendan Lyne, Ford Pro Europe’s Marketing and Sales Director, these models “infuse Ford’s no-compromise work vehicles with true motorsport DNA” – aimed squarely at drivers who want to make a statement on the road or the job site.
Both vehicles will go on sale across Europe later this year, with first deliveries expected in 2026.
RANGER MS-RT PHEV: THE ULTIMATE HYBRID STREET TRUCK
Based on the all-new Ranger PHEV – already Europe’s best-selling pickup for a decade – the MS-RT version turns up the heat. Its powertrain combines a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a 75 kW electric motor and 10-speed automatic gearbox, producing a total of 281 PS and 697 Nm of torque – the most torque ever seen in a Ranger.
The 11.8 kWh battery offers up to 40 km of pure electric driving, while the e4WD system, 3,500kg towing capacity, and 1-tonne payload ensure full workhorse ability. Whether towing a boat or hauling bricks, this is a truck that does both with flair.
Visually, it’s pure motorsport muscle. A honeycomb grille, front splitter, sculpted side skirts, and a lower ride height (down 40mm) give the PHEV an unmistakable stance. Flared arches extend its width by 82mm and house 21-inch diamond-cut wheels wrapped in low-profile tyres. Functional aerodynamics include a ducktail tailgate spoiler and cab spoiler, both computer-optimized for stability.
The suspension isn’t just lowered for looks – it’s been completely re-engineered, with retuned dampers and an increased track width of 40mm per side for sharper cornering and greater stability.

Inside, the double-cab cabin mirrors the performance theme. Eco-Leather and suede sports seats with blue stitching, LED-illuminated MS-RT logos, and a heated sports steering wheel with a blue 12 o’clock marker make it clear this is no ordinary pickup. Tech includes a 12-inch SYNC 4A touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, and a rear-view camera – all standard.
Colour choices are bold, too – from Fast Blue to Turini Purple – because subtlety isn’t the point here.
E-TOURNEO CUSTOM MS-RT: STYLE MEETS VERSATILITY
If the Ranger is a street brawler, the E-Tourneo Custom MS-RT is its suave but equally athletic sibling. This all-electric people mover can carry up to eight passengers, with a 210 kW (285 PS) output and track-tuned handling to match its head-turning looks.
Its track-mounted rear seating system allows for endless flexibility – seats can slide, fold, or be removed entirely to switch from family transport to gear-hauling adventure mode. Inside, you’ll find heated sports seats, Eco-Leather and suede trim, blue contrast stitching, and that signature LED MS-RT logo lighting up when doors open. A 13-inch SYNC 4 touchscreen, heated steering wheel, and premium materials complete the upscale cockpit.
On the outside, it looks ready to race. The aerodynamic body kit includes a front bumper with integrated spoiler, side skirts, rear diffuser, and a coast-to-coast LED light bar that gives it instant road presence. Exclusive hues such as Turini Purple, Ultramarine Blue, and Sunset Orange underline its bold character.
Performance tweaks include 19-inch Anthracite alloys that are wider and lighter than standard, increasing track width by over 50mm for better grip.
For customers not ready to go fully electric, Tourneo Custom MS-RT also comes with a 233 PS plug-in hybrid (2.5-litre petrol with 11.8 kWh battery) or a 170 PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel – the latter available with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto.

MOTORSPORT DNA FOR THE ROAD
MS-RT, short for M-Sport Road Technology, was born from a partnership between M-Sport founder Edward Davies and Ford’s rally division in 2015. M-Sport’s resume includes the Puma Rally1 WRC and various GT3 and Rallycross machines, and that racing expertise has trickled directly into these production vehicles.
Every Ranger MS-RT and Tourneo Custom MS-RT undergoes final assembly and finishing at Ford’s dedicated Dagenham facility in the UK. The site houses a design studio, semi-automated paint shop, and dual assembly lines – ensuring each model leaves with hand-finished quality and motorsport-inspired precision.
With their blend of plug-in power, road-devouring design, and rally-bred engineering, the Ranger MS-RT PHEV and E-Tourneo Custom MS-RT aren’t just new Fords – they’re a statement. Whether hauling, touring, or just turning heads, these electrified machines are built for those who refuse to blend in.
