Food & artisan market casualty of stormy weather

While the weather may have been bad news for the outdoor market for the Fermoy Arts Festival, some hardy traders defied the poor weather.

It was the only outdoor element of the Fermoy Arts Festival and that meant, unfortunately, it was also the only event to fall foul of last weekend's horrendous weather.

The organisers of Fermoy's Street Food Market were greatly disappointed to have to cancel their Pearse Square market on Saturday last because of high winds and heavy rain. With better weather conditions forecast for the Sunday, it was agreed they'd try again on the second day but only half a dozen or so stall holders ended up trading as others decided that, while improved, the weather still wasn't good enough to go ahead.

Those hardy souls who did trade on Sunday did so under still very windy conditions.

There's good news though for those disappointed that the artisan food and craft market wasn't able to go ahead properly last weekend. The organisers believe there is great interest in the concept and they are working on plans to feature it as a fairly regular occurrence this year, particularly on holiday weekends.

They can also, of course, be found indoors, in the garden centre of Toss Bryan's, every Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
