Presentations were made recently to two very deserving local charities following another successful Festival of the Galtees.
The North Cork branch ASI was one of the local charities to benefit and the Festival of the Galtees committee were delighted to help with the services they provide in St Mary's Day Care Centre. Kitty Boland (treasurer), in the company of other committee members, presented the cheque to Mary Dunleavy and Mai Moriarty.
Paddy Seery, chairman of the Carmelite Lourdes Group, was delighted to accept a cheque from Sheila Donegan (Festival of the Galtees committee) to help send helpers to Lourdes, as they do every year. At the presentation were Bernie Creed (committee), Kitty Boland (treasurer), Kathleen Dennehy (dance organiser), Michael Creed (committee), Liz Downes (Tesco community champion, sponsor), Michael White (chairman) and Paddy Flynn (committee).
The Festival of the Galtees committee extend thanks to the sponsors of the prizes for the super draw for their much appreciated generosity as follows: Weekend for 2, Tower Hotel, Waterford (Joan Sweeney); 26" television Fitzgerald's Electrical; Tesco hamper (Liz Downes, community champion); Reidy's SuperValu hamper (Jason O'Connor, manager).
Unavoidably absent for the cheque presentations were Billy Roche (sec), Diane Casey and T O'Flynn.
