On Friday morning it was revealed that services in Southdoc’s Fermoy centre would be withdrawn indefinitely.
The centre, which is located on the grounds of Fermoy Community Hospital, serves much of the Avondhu area.
It is understood that Southdoc care will now be provided from a centre in Mallow.
Speaking to The Avondhu, Councillor Noel McCarthy expressed his concern at this recent development, and said that considering the current healthcare crisis now more than ever the Southdoc centre in Fermoy was needed.
At the time of publication online, the HSE was not in a position to provide comment on this matter.
