Inspired by a similar project in Cahir 12 months ago, Fr. Brian Boyle set in train plans to stage a ‘live crib’ in the grounds of St. Patrick’s Church, Fermoy this year.
“It was something that I thought would work well in Fermoy, I received a lot of help and we are all delighted with the reaction we’ve received this evening,” Fr. Boyle told The Avondhu last Friday evening.
Indeed, there was no denying the interest and enthusiasm the project generated. Well in advance of the official start time of 5pm, crowds had started to gather. In what was a very closely co-ordinated operation led by an order of Sisters, small groups were taken for a ‘tour’ of the church that included a Nativity re-enactment, an interactive slide show, the live crib, Christmas prayers, a lighting of the way ceremony and the option of confession.
