On Friday last, August 14, reports of smoke coming from a building raised the alarm for Fermoy Fire Brigade.

It is understood that three fire engines attended the scene at Terence MacSwiney Place, only to discovered it was a false alarm.

According to Tom Baylor of Tom Baylor Music Centre, the cause of the smoke was a fog machine they had been testing.

“It happened once before,” said Tom, who repairs fog machines at the Music Centre.

Tom said that when repairing fog machines, you also have to test them and so, quite a lot of fog is generated. This is obviously what caused concern for those who rang the brigade.

“The fire brigade actually use them for their training,” Mr Baylor said.
