A new stage school is being set up in Fermoy. Fresh from a ten year career in London's West End, Ballincollig native Stephen Cullinane-O'Regan will already be known to locals from his show-stopping leading performance as song and dance man Bobby Child in Fermoy Musical Society's 'Crazy for You' earlier this year.

Stephen is passionate about the stage and now he wants to impart his knowledge, experience and expertise to help others develop their stage etiquette and stage presence and learn all there is to know about the experience of treading the boards.

Stephen's West End productions include, We Will Rock You by Ben Elton and Queen, Ian Fleming's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and Me and My Girl. He has also worked with many professional dance companies and pantomimes all over the world.

Some may have caught Stephen's performance as Eugene in the big summer musical 'Grease' at Cork Opera House.

Having someone of Stephen's calibre set up a stage school in town is big news and already there's been plenty of interest in his classes. His studio will be based in Fermoy Community Youth Theatre on Ashe Quay. Classes are beginning on Thursday next, October 17. They'll run from 3.30pm to 6.30pm and are for ages from 5 to 21.

Stephen says he loves Fermoy with its strong tradition of musical theatre and overall friendliness. Kieran Barry, Manager of the Youth Theatre, has been extremely enthusiastic and helpful in setting up the stage school on the premises, he says.
