Fermoy retailers avail of specialist North Cork Enterprise Board training

15 Fermoy retailers recently undertook specialist retail training, in a bid to help them grow sales during these challenging times.

A number of business owners in Fermoy have availed of specialist retail training, managed and funded by the North Cork Enterprise Board (NCEB).

The 15 retailers completed their programme, aimed at owners/managers of retail outlets, on Tuesday last and were presented with their certificates of achievement by North Cork Enterprise Board manager, Michael Hanley in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre.

The objective of the training was to give retailers new tools to help them grow sales during these challenging times. The programme entailed four days of training - one a month - as well as a store audit and visual merchandising audit. The training workshops and store audit were delivered by a leading Irish retail consultant and advisor, James Burke on behalf of the Enterprise Board. While his colleague, Celine Cummins delivered the visual merchandising workshop and audit.

BEST PRACTICE

Participants were taught how to develop sales growth strategies including developing world class customer service and visual merchandising and display best practice.

At the presentation of certificates on the final day of the programme, NCEB manager Michael Hanley said "Now, more than ever, it is important that local retailers explore new ways to bring a fresh approach to their business which will not only aid them in their long term success, but also breathe new life into how they work together for the development of the town of Fermoy."

The participants were, Nora Quane of Style Lounge, Jennifer Feeney from Fermoy Opticians, Noel McCarthy of Carry Out Fermoy, Geraldine Hegarty of Hegarty Fabrics, Simon Barber of JJ Barber Jewellers, Kathleen O'Keeffe of Bermingham's Pharmacy, Susan Hickey of Hickey's, Michael Ennis from Avondhu Motor Factors Ltd., Goretti Fitzgerald of  Bermingham's Newsagents, Mike Walsh of Walsh's Pharmacy, David Hickey of Hickey's, Paul O'Neill from O Crualaoi's butchers and delicatessen, Joy Browne of Vanilla boutique, David Ryan of Davsea Ltd. and Charlie Richards from the PC Clinic, Fermoy.
