– Over 900,000 Germans to tune in to Kinsale and Ireland –

Images of Kinsale and Ireland will be seen by more than 900,000 people across Germany later this year and Fermoy native Martin Shanahan is one of those at the forefront of the promotion.

Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited a popular travel programme called Grenzenlos – Die Welt Entdecken (meaning ‘Without borders – discover the world’) to film here this week.

The crew has been filming in various locations – including in Kinsale with Martin Shanahan of the well-known Fishy Fishy restaurant.

The resulting programme will air to around 900,000 people on Sat.1 – a major national TV channel – this autumn. It will also be available on the programme’s YouTube channel.

Saying Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this TV crew to visit Kinsale and Ireland, Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe said television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers.

“In 2018, we welcomed around 818,000 German arrivals to Ireland …  and continue to encourage more German holidaymakers to explore our regions and less-visited attractions, during the shoulder and off-season months,” Mr Nash continued.
