Two-year old Keane Byrne from Fermoy, is featured on the newly released 2015 Down Syndrome Centre calendar. The calendar, ‘I’m Able 2’, stars 16 children with Down syndrome, and Keane, who turned two on October 16, features in the month of November dressed as Superman.

All funds raised by the calendars go to the Down Syndrome Centre in Dublin, and are available to purchase at a number of businesses around Fermoy. Keane’s mother Gillian, is selling copies from her salon Beauty Fx, and they can also be purchased from Hanley’s Newsagents, Amber Service Station, Birmingham’s Newsagents and Riordan’s SuperValu. The cost of the calendar is €7.99.

The goal of the charity is to make sure each child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential, focussing on abilities rather than disability. CEO of the Down Syndrome Centre, Sharon Dagg said the calendars are a collection of images ‘that allow us to celebrate how wonderful, unique and inspiring all of the children are’.

The launch of the calendar coincided with the opening of services in the Down Syndrome Centre, an early intervention centre based in Dublin 18, which provides essential services and therapies to aid in a child’s development.
