Popular Fermoy band The Buachaills have landed themselves a grand high profile gig, being asked to play for the homecoming of the Cork team to Cork city this Sunday night.

Win or lose, thousands are expected to turn out to welcome the team home following the All-Ireland hurling final replay. The gig will take place on the big stage on the South Mall in the city at 7pm on Sunday 29th. The lads will keep the crowd well entertained with a lively session while they await the team’s arrival.

“It’s a great honour for us,” Eoin Murphy told The Avondhu this week. It’s also quite an achievement given that the band has only been together for 18 months.

Meanwhile the tune they released ‘The Boys of Fairhill’, topped the world iTune charts recently, in the run up to the All-Ireland final.
