A damaged loop at ground level has caused the problem with the traffic lights at Upper Cork Street in Mitchelstown, the Fermoy electoral area committee meeting was told recently.

Cllr Frank O’Flynn had tabled a motion calling on Cork County Council to review the time settings on the lights at the busy junction, especially the delay for traffic travelling southwards.

He was told the matter was investigated and found to be caused by a broken loop. Quotes have been received for repair and the works will progress in a timely manner, members were assured by senior engineer Brendan O’Gorman.
