With top acts like Bastille, The Fratellis, Kodaline and De La Soul already announced for INDIEPENDENCE, Mitchelstown organiser Shane Dunne has said that this year's festival promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Mr Dunne said that they launched a whole month earlier this year, so while there are a wealth of great line ups already on the programme, there are a lot more to come and he will also be booking in some local acts.

He added that he has a main stage headliner yet to reveal and there will also be a lot of big UK festival touring acts.

"It's a very strong line up and I'm really looking forward to De La Soul for a bit of old school hip hop, while Bastille, The Fratellis and Kodaline are all doing really well in the charts at the moment.

"We have strengthened the line up across the three days and people can keep up to date with the latest news on the website or through Facebook or Twitter," Mr Dunne said.

LAUNCH NIGHT

The official launches took place last night (Wednesday) simultaneously in Dublin and Cork and the local launch will take place in Walsh's in Mitchelstown on Saturday night from 7pm, with music from the Limerick band Protobaby.

This year's festival will also showcase three new indoor areas, with the Bier Halle, which will have craft beer, a games area and an intimate stage and the polar opposite Darkness and Light arenas with a silent disco, new bands, spoken word, family acitivities and Today FM broadcasters.

The line up also includes Beardyman, And So I Watch You From Afar, Funeral For a Friend, Paddy Casey, The Original Rudeboys, Hudson Taylor, We Cut Corners, Leaders of Men, Toby Kaar and many more to be announced.

The festival will take place from August 2-4 with tickets available from www.tickets.ie for €79 for three days non camping and €99 for three days with camping.
