The EPA has launched its annual report on water from public supplies, and four local supplies remain on its Remedial Action List – the list for action in order to ensure the water is safe to drink now and in the future.
Further issues blight water supplies across The Avondhu region, with the EPA commending some of the work completed by Irish Water, but cautioned that work was needed for our water to stay safe to drink into the future.
The EPA keeps a Remedial Action List (RAL), a list of sites that need attention to stay safe. While overall the number of people affected on an RAL is down, the number of sites themselves are up, from 46 to 52.
Of those 52, both Killavullen and Mitchelstown feature as does the Galtee Regional Supply in south Tipperary which was only recently taken off a boil water notice and Kereen, in West Waterford.
The 28 people supplied by the water at Kereen, just outside Aglish, have been told since April 2021 not to drink the water at all. Killavullen residents are being advised to boil their water since 2nd May this year.
