Ballyporeen on the airwaves

The great and good of Ballyporeen were presented to the whole of Tipperary on Thursday morning, as Tipp FM’s Fran Curry broadcast his morning show from Pat Russell’s kitchen as part of the station’s Tipperary Village Tour.

The Avondhu were on site to meet the locals, some of whom were minor celebrities for the morning as they were interviewed live on air about the community.

The kitchen was an active hive, as at one point there were 34 children in the kitchen, performing like seasoned experts as they recited Fr Ned Sheehy’s poem, ‘Ballyporeen’. Outside, some of the locals, or at least, those who still knew the words, joined in!
