It’s been a busy week for Fermoy Camera Club members starting on Sunday 24th with an outing to Fota.

The sun came out, the tripods, monopods, cameras were packed and off we went for a bit of fun with photography.

It was a great day to get out and be at one with nature and the animals … some members maybe took it a little bit far.

No animals were hurt in the making of this outing, just intimidated.

Our competition on Tuesday night was titled ‘Emotion’ – projected monochrome.

19 entries were received, and we are very thankful to our friends from Ballincollig Camera Club – Ian Bevan, Trevor Hallows and Terence Hume who not only judged the competition but also gave us critique on each photo.

This led to a very interesting discussion. The winners were First Place and winner of Grade 1 Karen Fleming with a wonderful portrait with a veiled twist. 2nd Place Ruth Howard with a lovely study of grandad and grandson captured on a trip to Nerja last year. 3rd Place was Mark Heffernan’s beautiful capture of a young lady and her best friend.

Winner of Group 2 Deidre Casolani who captured a fun loving young lady munching biscuits. 1st Place in Grade 3 Mary Walsh whose subject was her son Sean.

Well done to all the winners and thanks for sharing a little of the background to your photos.

The back story often adds to the impact the picture has on the viewer.

Our April competition is The Village and with the lovely bright weather it’s a great opportunity to get out and about with your camera and have some Fun With Photography.

A few dates for your diary; April 27, SACC Inter Club Cup and Shield Competitions at The Horse and Jockey. May 11 and 12 IPD National Club Championship in Mullingar.
