Formerly marketed as the ‘Christmas Bazaar’, Watergrasshill’s rebranded Christmas Fair, retains all the attractions that have made it such a popular event over the years, namely: cake sale, wheel of fortune, art competition, book stall, novelty games and of course Santa’s grotto.
Santa was accommodated in a very elaborate grotto which came in for much favourable comment. An orderly queue formed from early afternoon as children sought an audience with the Big Man.
All the little visitors were introduced by chief elf, Robert Ryall, who, despite some stiff competition, continues to be Santa’s right hand man in Watergrasshill.
This well organised fair is organised by Watergrasshill Community Association, who unfortunately don’t have any Santa-like individual to provide for their every need – instead, they, like all other voluntary groups, need to fundraise to pay essential bills and carry out enhancement works around the village.
