The newly refurbished Páirc Uí Chaoimh was the venue for Enable Ireland’s inaugural Fire & Ice ball on Saturday night, where a number of Cork-based organisations announced significant financial support for the new Children’s Centre at Curraheen.

The Tomar Trust, founded by Mr Tom Kavanagh of Fermoy, a philanthropic trust which contributes to strengthening Irish society, has announced a €100,000 donation to the Children’s Centre.

In another significant development, KPMG Cork is one of the first Cork-based companies who has pledged substantial financial support to the building project.

Head of Fundraising for Enable Ireland, Joanne O’Hagan said they were delighted that both the Tomar Trust and KPMG Cork have committed to the project and are supporting the development.

"Their pledges are the first step in reaching our goal of raising €2million over the next two years. We really hope that other Cork businesses will take their lead, and help us with our efforts in building a new centre for children with disability in Cork,” she said.
