
Cappoquin were declared as ‘in drought’ on Friday, July 11, with low pressure and reduced supply in the region.
This week, problematic water supplies in West Waterford were described as ‘a constant issue’ as Cllr Donnchadh Mulcahy outlined that water outages occurring in the region over the dry weekend are ‘not isolated incidents, they’re a warning of what’s to come’/
Speaking at Monday’s meeting of the Dungarvan Lismore District, Cllr Mulcahy said: “We need to accept the hard truths, our water is under serious pressure and it's only going to get worse the way things are going”.
Cllr Mulcahy called for the establishment of dedicated emergency water tankers for Waterford to be on standby and ready to deploy on short notice to any community facing an outage.
