A driver of a car in Kildorrery was lucky to avoid serious injury last weekend when a wheel came off a trailer of an oncoming vehicle and crashed through the windscreen of their vehicle.
At around 6pm on Friday, April 5 a wheel became detached from a trailer being pulled by a Ford transit pickup, travelling in the direction of Mallow, on the N73 (Mitchelstown – Mallow Road) at Waterdyke, Kildorrery.
The wheel smashed through the windscreen of an oncoming car with such force that it broke the passenger seat in half.
The road would have been busy at the time of day, so Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses that may have any information relating to this incident to get in touch.
Gardai say that, had there been someone in the passenger seat, the consequences could have been fatal.
