Those who enjoy the John Nyhan-promoted gigs in Kilworth's Village Arts Centre are in for another great evening's music on Monday night next (30th) when Down The Road, a duo from Nashville Tennessee will share the stage with Gospel group, Jacob's Ladder.
The latter is an exciting six piece, accapelle/unaccompanied Gospel group made up of Mick Culloty, Liam Fitzgerald, Jane Fitzgerald, James Barry, Darren Richmond and Margo Crean. The sextet wowed audiences at the Ballyhooly Arts Festival earlier in the year. Their songs come from the Southern Baptist tradition of the southern states of the US - songs which are akin to Bluegrass Gospel.
Playing all the hits of Flatt and Scruggs like ‘Foggy Mountain Breakdown’, ‘The Ballad of Jed Clampet’ and ‘Roll In My Sweet Baby’s Arms’ to mention but a few, Down The Road features Jeff Burke on guitar, mandolin and vocals and Josh McMurray on banjo and vocals.
So, with a woderful mix of Bluegrass and Gospel programme, it promises to be another one of those memorable nights at the Village Arts Centre. Booking is now open with tickets (just €15) available from John on 087-7921771, from the usual Arts Centre outlets or from 025-32227 or 087-6492514.
