Demolition works underway at former barracks

The demolition of three buildings at the former Fitzgerald Barracks’ site in Fermoy, also known locally as ‘The Aerodrome’, is well underway.

Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) is undertaking the work, which consists of the demolition of three single storey buildings at the site adjoining the Queen of Peace Church on the town’s north side.

In a statement issued to The Avondhu this week, IFI confirmed that the buildings had recently been the target of vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
