Long-term residents of the townslands of Pollardstown, Killicane, Ballinamona, Skeheen and surrounding areas, fondly recall stories of dancing at the crossroads over 80 years ago.

This special occasion took place at ‘The Forge’, on the intersection between Pollardstown/Killicane – a building which has long since disappeared.

Some of the current residents held the desire to revive this tradition, even on a very small scale.  On most nights of the year, a little gathering can be found on “Mikey Ryan’s Bridge”, having the chats.

After many years of talking about it, the desire to revive the dancing at the crossroads tradition, finally came to fruition last Friday night, 23rd June.
