Doneraile Art FesT is delighted to announce Cork’s First Plein Air Competition will take place in the historical setting of Doneraile Court Estate on Sunday, August 15.

Prizes up for grabs in the competition include a first-place prize of €1,000 sponsored by Cork County Council and €300 for second place sponsored by Mallow Credit Union. An entry fee of €10 applies and online registration is now open.

Doneraile Art FesT will run from August 12-15 with workshops to suit every taste.

Beginners who are interested in exploring a taste of creativity can take part in ‘Painting for the Petrified. Those with a little more experience will enjoy our Plein Air guided workshop or learning to paint the portrait in oils, followed by a day painting from a live model.

The amazing ‘Me and the Moon’ will facilitate a family process art workshop for the 8+ age group. Teens will enjoy our popular Caricature Workshop.

Craft workshops, including felting, lampshade and súgán stool making will also take place during the festival. Mindfulness workshops including Therapeutic Art, Yoga and Colour and Heart of Wombyn will afford you an opportunity to tap into your unique, creative wellbeing.

“You don’t have to be experienced in self-expression, art or yoga—all you need is a desire to know yourself, calm your mind and spirit, leaving room to explore more creative thoughts,” a spokesperson said.

These mindfulness workshops will take place on the grounds of Newtown House, an oasis of calm and tranquillity. Workshop numbers are limited due to government regulations.

Doneraile Art FesT is supported by Cork County Council, Creative Ireland and Fermoy Municipal Council.

“We are also delighted to have received generous sponsorship from Mallow Credit Union, Cavanaghs of Charleville, Two Green Witches Skincare, Philips Bookshop, The Oriel Charleville, Cork Art Supplies and Great ARTitude, Doneraile,” the spokesperson added.
