Credit Union addresses merger concerns

A Special Resolution has been passed to proceed with the strategic merger of Synergy Credit Union and Elevate Credit Union, however some locals have raised concerns regarding a lack of transparency and publicity surrounding the recent Special General Meeting (SGM) meeting where the resolution was passed.

Held on Wednesday, April 15th, the resolution was passed by members of both credit unions at the SGM and Synergy Credit Union have confirmed that all Synergy branches will remain open, stating that the commitment to this is ‘clear, documented, and shared by both boards’.

“The merger will, subject to final approval from the Central Bank of Ireland, complete on Friday, 8 May 2026. Synergy Credit Union will engage with members in the coming days regarding any minor service interruptions,” said Martina Cotter, CEO of Synergy Credit Union.
