Lismore Town Councillor, Ken Madden, was critical of the short time allowed for consideration and submissions to be made on a new draft area plan for Lismore when the matter came before their monthly meeting recently.

They’d only just received correspondence on the matter and had little time to prepare submissions, he pointed out, saying it wasn’t good enough when it was so important. He asked that, in future, Waterford County Council send them out any such information ahead of time to allow them to properly consider matters before making submissions.

Town manager, Paul Daly, said no decision has been made as yet anyway as the council hasn’t yet seen the boundary committee report.

Cllr Orla Russell was concerned too, given that it should include such important developments as the new fire station.

It was agreed to devote a portion of their next meeting to discuss the new draft area plan in more depth.

Cllr Madden asked members to come to that meeting prepared with the points they wanted to include in their submissions.
