After a long wait an end is finally in sight for the people of Conna, as it was announced just last week that the contractor for the Conna water works scheme has been appointed and that they will be on site in December, with a view to starting the works in the new year.

The contract was awarded to Source Civil Ltd, a civil engineering company from Donegal Town and they expect the work to take six months to complete.

The works will include a precast concrete reservoir approximately 600m south of the village, and the installation of 4km of uPVC water mains varying in size from 800mm to 200mm.

Cllr Frank O’Flynn who has been advocating for this new Conna water scheme for some time, told The Avondhu that he is delighted with this progress.

“When completed, the new water scheme will ensure a significant improvement in the supply and quality of the water, to meet the present and future needs of the people in the village and surrounding areas,” he said.
