There were songs of celebration, words of thanks and a hint of sadness in Conna Sports Complex last Friday as the Deputy Principal of Conna National School Mary Barry, officially retired.

Religion and faith has always had a very special place in Mary’s life and so, fittingly, a special Mass was said by Fr O’Donovan, Fr Barry and Fr Hegarty, to celebrate her wonderful 38 years served as a teacher and to bless her for her future endeavours.

All 173 pupils from the school were in attendance at the celebration as were current and past staff members, members of the Board of Management, members of the Parents Association as well as family and friends who have shared in Mary’s journey through the decades.
