Confusion has emerged as to whether Cork County Council or the Office of Public Works (OPW) are responsible for publishing a report into the cause of flooding in Fermoy last February.

Almost 11 months since flood waters damaged businesses in Brian Boru Square last spring, it is understood that no business owner has been able to complete an insurance claim due to a hold up with officially establishing the cause of the flooding. 

However, claims by councillors at this week’s council meeting on Monday that the OPW are “dragging their feet” on publishing a report into the cause of the flooding, have been disputed by the OPW, who say that they are not producing a report and that any such report is the responsibility of Cork County Council.
