Kilworth's village square has been a blaze of colour for the past week with trees and other objects being singled out for particular attention.

Ideas are never in short supply in Kilworth and as a result of a recent 'knit-in', trees, poles and even seats have a warm and colourful glow to them as they sport varied coats of woollen creations.

This was all made possible by the willingness of locals to knit, crochet, create squares, panels or make pompoms so as to add a burst of colour to this year’s festival. The craze started with a 'Knit In The Park' event back in June that motivated local knitters to create ‘yarn bombs’ for the festival.

The idea was mooted by knitting enthusiasts Laura Hurley and Sarah O'Brien who oversaw proceedings on the day. Beginners got a hand out and a crash course on the art of knitting for those more experienced in the art. Well done to one and all!
