CoderDojo, a volunteer-led and community based computer-programming club for young people, is coming to Fermoy in January.

Here, people between the ages of seven and 17 will learn how to code, develop websites, apps, programmes, games and explore technology. In addition to learning codes, they get to meet like-minded people and develop their social skills.

CoderDojo will be held in Fermoy CDYS at Fitzgerald Place, and anyone who is interested in getting involved is asked to contact either Noel Barnes on 086 3849698 or Martina Daly on 086 8031200. Laptops are required. Additionally they are seeking computer literate volunteers to help in the teaching of the classes.

Cork resident’s Bill Liao and James Whelton founded CoderDojo three years ago in Ireland, and since then the movement has grown to include over 500 clubs in 50 countries.
