Coaching and practice at Kilworth Junior Tennis Club are winding down towards the summer break following a very active year. Coaching took place on Fridays and Saturdays since September – Liam O’Rourke on Fridays and Joanne Williamson on Saturdays. Our thanks to the coaches for the great work carried out throughout the year from which our young players have benefited greatly.

Sunday morning practice is concluding on June 30, again this has been ongoing since September and children have the opportunity of practising the skills learned at coaching. It is also an opportunity to be introduced to the game and learn the basic skills prior to sessions with the coaches. Many thanks to all who have given of their time on Sunday mornings to practice with the children.

U10 practice concludes with a mini tournament this week.

Teams participated in the recent North Cork League from U10 novice to U14 and all played well and enjoyed the experience.

Our U8 and U9 participated in inter-club friendlies in conjunction with Munster Branch of Tennis Ireland.

Two teams participated in the KBS Cup for U16s both teams reaching the semi-final stages of the competition.

A group of our U12s came together early in June and we saw some great tennis played on one of the warmest days this summer

TENNIS CAMP

NATIONAL TENNIS DAY

Tennis Ireland, to whom our tennis club is affiliated, proposed an open tennis day for clubs on Saturday, July 6th. We plan to run this day at Kilworth - our juniors playing in the morning and adult players in the afternoon. It is an opportunity for anyone in the environs of Kilworth to come along and try their hand on court, watch our players in action and find out about the club. So readers make a note of the July 6th date and come along!

We wish our teams - ladies 4 and division 2 good luck for their South Tipperary League campaign and enjoy your tennis.
