If you’re already planning of a responsible way to dispose of your Christmas tree, councils’ provide a free service, where in most instances, all trees will be shredded for use as bark mulch across the various parks, etc.
Cork County Council are providing a free Christmas tree drop off service at their civic amenity sites up to January 31st, 2023. Please note normal charges will apply to other materials brought for recycling/disposal.
In Tipperary, Christmas trees can be dropped off free of charge for recycling from January 6th to the 13th at appointed times at the following nearby locations: the Council Yard located at Cahir Business Park; Clonmel Recycling Centre at Carrigeen.
Limerick City and County Council is encouraging all households to dispose of their real Christmas trees in an environmentally friendly way. The council-run recycling centres, including the one in Kilmallock, will accept Christmas trees for the month of January.
Opening hours for the Civic Amenity Centres can be found at limerickrecyclingcentres.ie. Please note that there is a limit of two trees per car.
While in Waterford, the county’s City & County Council provide a civic amenity site at Ballinamuck, Dungarvan (Eircode: X35 WE20).
