At Christmas, the gifts take centre stage for children, but some children won't be waking up to a large bundle of presents and this is where Team Hope's Christmas shoe box appeal comes in.

Recently, Kerry Dobson visited Curraghagalla NS to give the students and teachers a presentation on the shoe box appeal. The idea is that students, their parents and people from the community can get involved, embrace the spirit of giving and put items into shoe boxes to bring a little bit of extra joy into the lives of children less fortunate than themselves in the festive season.

People are asked to fill the boxes with small gifts that will bring a smile to the children's faces this Christmas, such as things to write with, small toys, small items of clothing or other gifts.

By getting children involved in the appeal, it makes them more aware of how people in other parts of the world live and it also encourages the spirit of generosity and giving, which is at the heart of the Christmas season.

Anyone from the community or surrounding areas who would like to fill a shoe box for Team Hope is asked to drop the box into Curraghagalla National School on or before Tuesday, October 23.
