Having always gone to great lengths to decorate Kilbehenny for the festive season, those normally charged with sourcing and erecting a suitable Christmas tree, can take things a bit easier this year.

While there’s a major countdown to December 25th, residents of the county Limerick village were last week counting down the days to the arrival of their ‘Super Tree’. When it eventually did come into view, there was unbelievable excitement.

“Sure the kids nearly lost the run of themselves, it was like the lorry in the Coca Cola ad, they were totally hyper,” one local told The Avondhu at last Thursday night’s ‘switching on’ ceremony.
