In the little over a week since it was launched, the Castlelyons parish publication, 'Tithe na Smaointe' - A Pictorial and Family History of the homes of Castlelyons, has surpassed all expectations with all copies now sold.
The complete sell out is a great boost for the hardworking editorial committee who toiled for a year to put it together. The 700 page hardback book took people by surprise with the quality of its layout along with the very interesting titbits and anecdotes from bygone days.
That, coupled with unique photos picked from dusty albums in dark attics throughout the parish has endeared itself to its readers and it has become a must-have record for locals.
One very positive aspect of the publication has been that everyone now knows all their immediate neighbours and can put names to faces! That must surely be a good thing at a time when more and more people don't know their neighbours and calling to say hello has become a thing of the past.
The editorial committee, in an effort to accommodate all those who are still looking for a copy, have drawn up a list of names and will do a re-print if it is feasible.
Anyone who has been unable to get a copy of the book can give in their name to Brigid at 025-36005 or e-mail to admin@castlelyonsparish.com.
