Valley Rangers went into their division A semi-final with Lismore as slight underdogs, but after a fine team effort and man of the match performance from Kevin Barry, they are now favourites to be in the league final next month, but still have a lot of work to do in the second leg.
Lismore played well but will be disappointed to lose this game but know the tie is only half way as they are at home in the second leg. Valley led at the break through a penalty scored by Kevin Barry and they doubled their lead midway through the second half when Barry again scored. Lismore goalkeeper, Fionn O’Gorman, made some fine saves to keep his team in the tie, while Graham Stuart and Sam Warren also had fine games for the away team. Ciaran O’Brien and Tom Hartnett were in good form for Valley, but Barry was the match winner with his two and all round play.
Kilworth and Brideview had an almighty struggle in Pound Lane on Saturday morning and in the end it finished 0-0 with both defences on top throughout. Kilworth, as the home side, had more of the chances but the Brideview rearguard held firm and with Paudie Hynes having a great game in midfield, they will fancy their chances in the second leg in Tallow. Mark and Luke Carey in midfield and Patrick Coughlan in defence were Kilworth’s standout players on the day and the second leg of this tie will by well worth a watch.
In division B Castlebridge produced a brilliant come-from-behind win against Clashmore in Bridesbridge. Clashmore took the lead in the opening minute when Kian Carey made no mistake when a chance fell his way. Castlebridge were beaten by Clashmore 4-0 a few weeks back in the league section and will be very happy with their performance after falling behind so early. In the end they ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Eoghan Dolan, Michael Griffin and Stephen Casey. The away goal could prove vital for Clashmore as they will be at home in the second leg – the winner meets Ballymac in the league final.

Only one of the semi-finals took place in both divisions as entrance exams etc caused postponements to the other games on Saturday last. Ballymac travelled to Ardmore in the division A semi and in the end won by 2-1 and will take a slight advantage into the second leg in a few weeks time. Tholom Guiry, Thomas Ahern and Tom Barron were the scorers.
Ardmore played very well and will still fancy themselves to cause an upset in the second leg.

This league play-off game went ahead on Saturday morning in Pound Lane, Kilworth and the home side put in a fine performance to win the game, scoring five times defeating Castlebridge and will now play Clashmore Ramblers in the division B semi-final in a few weeks time. Eoin McGrath put in a man of the match performance from centre-half to score a hat-trick and also led from the back in stopping the Castlebridge players in their tracks. Jamie Kenneally and Nathan Dolan were also on the score sheet in this fine performance. Peter Gubbins and John Walsh were the Castlebridge scorers.
