Gardaí have issued a warning about car break ins outside homes as car thieves target vehicles left unlocked overnight.
They have warned people not to leave valuables in their vehicles and said that the issue is made worse by people who do not lock their cars.
“We would like to remind everyone of the need to #ParkSmart by taking all valuable items from your vehicle and making sure it is locked.
“Criminals will go around housing estates trying car doors until they get one that is unlocked. Let’s not make it easy for them.
“National figures show that one-third of all vehicles broken into in residential areas had been left unlocked,” the Garda spokesperson concluded.
