The ‘Tuesday Homeless Run’ involves a group of individuals from Fermoy and surrounding areas travelling to Cork city centre where they distribute food and clothing to those in need.

This act of charity brings volunteers into contact with the raw face of the homeless crisis, of which we hear so much. Having spoken to some of those involved in the ‘Tuesday Homeless Run’, it’s clear that such interaction has had a profound effect on them.

“It’s shocking that this is happening on our doorstep. We meet all kinds of people, the majority of them are people who never expected to be living on the streets, we’re doing our best, but the situation seems to be getting worse,” Julie O’Brien told The Avondhu in the early hours of last Saturday morning (Friday night).
