West Waterford/East Cork Soccer league
At long last we were able to get the semi-finals of the Bolger Cup (sponsored by the Dungarvan Leader) played and the result from both games see the same two teams contest the final as per last season. In fact, holders Brideview and last season’s runners-up Pinewood, will meet for the fourth time in five years in the final, with the Ballymac side yet to register a win.
The semi-finals took place on St. Patrick’s Day with Brideview defeating Lismore at the Castle farm Ground, with a goal three minutes short of the ninety, while in Ballymacarbry, Pinewood fought hard to hold onto their lead against a very good Abbey Tavern side.
So the two losers, Lismore and Abbey Tavern will contest the Bolger Plate final.
Brideview completed the weekend with an away victory against Railway, a result that sees them join Lismore at the top of the table and just six league games remaining.
Abbey Tavern move into third place following a comprehensive victory at Inch. The Pinewood/ Kilworth game was cancelled, when the appointed referee had to withdraw through injury.
