Big day in Carraig as An Tánaiste officially opens Scoil an Áthar Tadhg

Bishop Fintan Gavin of the Diocese of Cork and Ross and Tánaiste Micheál Martin were among those involved in the official opening the new school building at Scoil an Athar Tadhg, Carraig na bhFear on Friday.

There was a massive turnout on the day to celebrate the occasion with parents, pupils and members of the community not only filling the hall where the ceremony took place, but also the surrounding corridors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Bishop Fintan Gavin, patron of the school, said that the new school building is a continuation of a long tradition of education in Carraig na bhFear, which will now serve the needs of the community into the future.
