The performance of the James Sheehan (Clonmult) trained Hurricane Ben in taking the concluding 6 year old and upwards geldings maiden was undoubtedly the highlight of Sunday last’s Kildorrery point-to-point staged at their well-appointed Rockmills venue.
Partnered by Ciaran Fennessy the 7 year-old progeny hunted around in mid-division for most of this six runner contest, but at three out Fennessy gave the 5/4 shot (from 5/2) the hurry up and the response was instant and the recent Lisgoold runner-up pulled right away, duly winged the last two obstacles before going on to score by 6l from the eye catching He’s Chancy (4-7) and Eoin O’Brien.
“We might go for a winners race next or a hunter chase” commented James Sheehan. “He’s a lovely horse who I think an awful lot of and given better ground he will improve more.”
