Ballyporeen footballer stars for Middle East GAA

Ballyporeen footballer Amy Sweeney was proudly representing her club at the recent GAA World Games in Owenbeg, Co. Derry, but rather than playing in the blue-and-gold of Tipperary, Ms Sweeney was instead playing for the Middle East.

Amy plays football with the Na Fianna club who are based in Abu Dhabi, where she has been living and working as a primary school teacher for the last five years.

An integral part of the Senior A forward line for the last five year, she has collected several Middle East league and championship medals during her time with the side. 

Speaking with The Avondhu, Ms Sweeney said that she was able to capitalise on the tournament to get some valuable home-time.
