Ballynoe school children must walk for 1.5 kilometres on a dangerous road with no footpath but now, local volunteers could be engaged to build a footpath.
The spectre of national school children, walking single file on the way to and from school, has filled locals in the area with dread.
Cllr William O’Leary has decided to launch an ‘ambitious’ campaign to have a footpath built from the location where they get off their bus, to the school’s front door.
The councillor raised the problem of the dangers at the recent Fermoy Municipal District meeting.
