Ballylanders ladies Gaelic football team made history on Saturday by retaining the Limerick county senior title.
In 2015 this title was won for the first time. Their opponents St Ailbes, were firm favourites to take the title as they scored six goals in both their semi-final and quarter-final games. However, the Bally girls were quietly confident as they were unbeaten in each of their championship games during the season.
The final was played in the Gaelic Grounds on a perfect day for football. St Ailbes were first on the attack but failed to score. Ballylanders corner forward Caoimhe Clancy got her team off to the perfect start with a well taken point from a free.
