After almost 17 years, Ballygown NS in Killavullen said farewell to much loved SNA, Frank Macken on his retirement.

Celebrating the occasion on Friday last, the school along with Frank’s family and wider community came together as they wished the Ballyporeen local, Mr Macken, well as he moved on to the next chapter of his life.

Many of Frank's family were present to hear pupils, parents, members of the Board of Management and staff speak with great affection, admiration and appreciation for a man who has been a hugely positive presence in the school. 

Speaking at the gathering, Principal John Hannon said: “It was a very enjoyable occasion, with speeches and presentations, music and a photo slideshow, songs and laughs, and a reminder that Cork-Tipp rivalry doesn't have to impact employment prospects or friendship….
