Presentation Secondary School teacher, Claire O’Connell returned to school on Monday this week a newly crowned world champion, with no fewer than two medals and three national records under her belt.
Ms O’Connell took gold in the 50 metre breastroke in a time of 34.07 at the World Aquatics Masters Championships held in Doha, Qatar recently, beating her nearest rival by 0.02, Hungary’s Brigitta Gregus.
The Kerry lady was delighted with her win, made ‘even sweeter’, as she told The Kerryman, by the narrow victory.
